Job Description
Job title:  QA Lead | User Interface Software Engineering

Location: Stellenbosch

An opening for a QA lead exists within one of our client’s top-notch software engineering teams.

The role requires involvement in the entire software development life cycle, building world-class user experiences based on modern web application technologies.

The team follows agile principles in a collaborative environment, emphasising good, clear and open communication. They constantly learn and share knowledge in their commitment to deliver the highest quality solutions.

As QA Lead, you will be responsible for:

Test planning, defining strategic approaches to testing, identifying key activities, and ensuring the right resources are in place to monitor and control our quality goals. Your expertise in test analysis will help the company identify potential issues before they arise, ensuring a high-quality product system that delivers exceptional user experiences.

You’ll also lead and direct both automation and manual QA’s, overseeing the entire test lifecycle from implementation through to execution and reporting. With the support of the Engineering Manager, you’ll play an integral role in recruiting, training, and mentoring QA staff, ensuring that their talent is continually growing and thriving.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
  • ISTQB Foundation Certification
  • 8+ years hands-on experience testing production-level web applications based on object-oriented software languages and frameworks (e.g. Java, Go, Javascript, Typescript, Spring Boot & Vue.js)
  • Deep understanding of the QA domain

Responsibilities:

  • Implement Quality Assurance practices across the company’s four UI teams.
  • Lead testing activities within development teams and take ownership of QA competency across UI teams.
  • Implement metrics to guide projects, determine adherence to plans and assess achievement of the objectives.
  • Test implementation and execution reporting.
  • Release and closure reporting.
  • Manage manual testing and help guide automation of the software product within the SDLC from test planning to exit criteria.
  • Ensure the high quality of company products that are clear of defects and meet the customers’ needs.
