Job title:  Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Location: Stellenbosch

About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join our Development Engineering team.

In this role, you will help design, build and maintain modern web-based applications used for data organisation, analysis, visualisation, GIS and workflow management.

You’ll work in an Agile environment alongside experienced engineers, contributing to both the front end and back end of our products. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to technical architecture, user experience and design decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Your responsibilities will include:
  • Design, develop and maintain full-stack software solutions.
  • Build modern web applications and supporting backend services.
  • Develop reliable, scalable and high-performance systems.
  • Contribute to software architecture and technical design decisions.
  • Help improve the user experience and usability of applications.
  • Work with other engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver quality solutions.
  • Participate in Agile planning, reviews and team improvement initiatives.
  • Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and practices.

You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed above. A strong foundation in software development and a willingness to learn are important.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum requirements:

  • BSc in Computer Science, BEng or an equivalent qualification.
  • 2–5 years of software development experience.
  • Experience developing full-stack web applications.
  • Experience building scalable, production-grade software.

Advantageous experience:

  • Distributed systems, microservices or service-oriented architectures.
  • Modern web application frameworks and UX principles.
  • Automated testing and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD).

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Java, JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
  • A good understanding of software design and development principles.
  • Knowledge of software testing and quality practices.
  • An understanding of continuous integration and modern development practices.
  • The ability to troubleshoot technical problems and develop practical solutions.
