Job title:  Software Engineer | UX front-end development

Location: Stellenbosch (Office-based)
A Software Engineer position is available for someone who wishes to grow, contribute, and excel across all aspects of our client’s UX front-end development efforts.

The role demands involvement in the entire software development life cycle, building world-class UX, based on modern web application technologies.

The successful candidate will be able to build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software in compliance with established standards and technical design.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 3 or more years relevant professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing production-level web applications based on object-oriented software languages and frameworks, e.g. Java, JavaScript, Typescript, Spring Boot & VueJS.
  • Proficient with Linux-based systems and shell scripting.
  • Experience with source control procedures and systems, preferably Git.
  • Strong analytical, design and programming skills.

Duties and responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Execute full life cycle software development
  • Translate requirements into software architecture design
  • Write well-designed, testable, documented, efficient code
  • Contribute to the planning and scheduling of build increments
  • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Comply with project plans and industry standards

Tech stack:

  • Java, JavaScript, Typescript, Spring Boot, VueJS, Pinia, Vuetify
  • SQL databases – mySQL / PostGreSQL
  • Linux and bash scripting
  • GRPC, Thrift
  • Tools: Git, Docker, Maven, Jenkins
  • Build & Test Automation for Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD).

Beneficial / Advantageous qualifications, skills and experience (Not essential):

  • Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5 years of professional experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodology and release processes.
  • Experience with distributed service-oriented architectures and asynchronous messaging.
  • Experience in the integration of diverse systems in a service-oriented architecture.
